- North Carolina rural women sold approximately $300,000 worth of surplus produce at the curb markets established in various centers by home agents. The above picture shows the activity at a market immediately after its opening at eight o'clock Saturday morning. In less than an hour, practically all of the material had been sold. In this particular market, the farm women all wear white dresses and have a certificate from the county health department stating that the farm home and its surroundings had been carefully inspected.
