- Provenance note:
- Charles Cornelius Shaw, postmaster and farmer, and Mary Ray Shaw were the first owners.
- Architectural note:
- The home was constructed in the early nineteenth century and typifies the small but well finished farmhouses of the time period. The building contains Federal interior details. The home has been expanded with rear shed rooms and an engaged front porch with stranger rooms to produce a coastal cottage form. A rear kitchen and dining ell were added in the mid-nineteenth century.
