Type of View:
Detail, one of the four corner towers (corner of the quincunx) of the central shrine on the third level, first enclosure
Date of View:
The very steep stairways represent the difficulty of ascending to the kingdom of the god. The five central shrines (the quincunx of towers) have three levels, connected by numerous exterior staircases and decreasing in dimensions as they go up. The temple culminates in the sanctuary, a great central tower pyramidal in form. Towers also surmount the angles of the terraces of the two upper stages.
